This so called ‘tôle peinte’ coffee urn with three taps, can be dated in the last quarter of the 18th century. The urn is Dutch, specifically from the Northern province of Groningen. The urn is decorated with a beautifully painted scene from the Old testament. The depicted scene shows the finding of Moses by the daughter of the pharaoh in the Nile river.

This urn served as a centerpiece on the table, the three taps making sure that everybody could fill their cup. The gracefully curved legs as well as the dainty golden elements make for an elegant whole, truly worth being the center of attention.
