The sarcophagus-shaped box is crafted from an array of materials, including ivory, ebony, cedar, and silver.

The pearly ivory contrasts beautifully with the dark, delicate ebony inlay. The technique used for the intriguingly intricate woodwork is known as Sadeli, often featuring geometric or floral patterns. The silver metalwork is decorated with similar motifs.

The dimensions of this box are a little too large for a tea caddy; it was probably used to store documents or perhaps as a jewelry box. The small drawer can be locked with a silver pin—perfect for safekeeping treasures.
