This Chinese porcelain bowl and cover are in excellent condition. The porcelain is of exceptionally thin, almost translucent quality. The exterior is decorated throughout with characteristic Kraak ware panels, depicting, among other motifs, bamboo, butterflies, lingzhi, and lotus. The decoration is rich and meticulously executed.
The interior of the bowl is also fully decorated. A bird perched on a rock is depicted on the base. The interior wall is adorned with further Kraak ware panels, this time filled with tall flowering plants. The inside of the lid is likewise painted and features a finely rendered incense burner, continuing the refined decorative scheme of the piece as a whole.
