This plate is part of a distinctive group of Delftware, characterized by a spontaneously painted border. The decoration features intricate leaf motifs, with cherub heads at both the top and bottom. At the center of the plate is a landscape scene depicting two noblemen strolling. This central decoration is noteworthy because it differs from that found on other plates in the same group, which typically feature a medallion with a putto at the center instead.
Additionally, there exists another group of polychrome-decorated plates that share stylistic similarities with this piece. These plates are attributed to Willem Jansz. Verstraeten (Amsterdam, 1594 – Haarlem, 1656) and are adorned with medallions featuring putti. Examples of these plates can be found in the collection of the Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam. One such plate is also discussed in an article by J.D. van Dam (Mededelingenblad Nederlandse Vereniging van Vrienden van de Ceramiek, no. 108, 1982/4, dedicated in memoriam Dingeman Korf, p. 73, no. 126).
