A pair of lyre-form wall appliques, carved in lindenwood and gilded. The central lyre is adorned with gilded bronze, flanked by elegantly carved foliate branches. Above the lyre rises a sun mask, while scrolling arms extend below to support three candleholders in total.

Executed in Vienna at the turn of the 19th century, these appliques reflect the neoclassical taste of the period, combining musical symbolism with classical ornament. Their elegant design and luminous gilded surfaces would have made them particularly suited to a music room, where the lyre motif reinforces the space’s artistic function.
