The table is veneered partly on oak and partly on pine, with tulipwood, kingwood, and banded with boxwood and green stained wood. The table has an oval top and contains three drawers. The top one is fitted with a leather-lined writing slide and contains silvered bronze utensils for writing.

The table is signed by Dusautoy (1719-1800). His workshop was situated in Paris, on the Rue de Charonne. Dusautoy produced furniture in the Louis XV, Transitional, and Louis XVI styles. He specialized in small pieces of furniture, which were usually round, oval or rectangular in shape with curved legs.
